San Diego- & Seaworld

Here we are with our buddies Pieter and Paula at Seaworld on one of those water rides.

The dolphin show at Seaworld. It was so hot that day, I would have volunteered to play the dolphin! I would even eat the fish (suchi)
Nothing like ending the evening on the beach in San Diego and watching the sunset.

Does that not take your breath away?

grand canyon

What can we say about the Grand Canyon, but WOW. It takes your breath away.

Jacques on the edge of the world....Video taping (of course I have the final will and testament)

How insignificant we are in comparison with the vastness of our surroundings....

Car Trips

We also find ourselves jumping into the Honda when we don't know what else to do with ourselves and just go for a drive...

This was taken in Borego Springs. Just outside where we live. Amazing Quad-Biking trails there...One day...

Clark was very quick to take this photo on our way to Las Vegas last year.

Cycling

This would be the famous apple pie of Julian. What a prize to get after a mountainbike race!

That's Natasa finishing the mountainbike race in Utah (Brian's Head). It was a grueling 50 mile cycle, but oh what a scenery! Utah is like bits and pieces of the Grand Canyon red rocks everywhere.

And that's what our ride looks like with all the gear.

A photo we took at Thomas Mountain in Idylwild. Sometimes it's really weird - but this cycle reminded us so much of Grabouw. I got goose bumps riding it.

And here ladies and gentlemen we have Natasa ontop of Dunn Road that climbs up to the Goat Trails in Palm Springs. (Obviously very happy to be ontop) This is the closest local ride. Not many trees, but later on tons of cactuses and bunnies. (Luckily no rattle snakes yet)

I always loved the downhills.

This is part of the downhill we cycle at night in Idylwild. It's something to experience!

Hiking and Camping

This is our other little getaway place - Idylwild - about 40 minutes from home. Beautiful hiking and mountainbiking as much as you could possibly want.

This was a hike we did in June in Idylwild in June. Amazing how the temperature between here and there differs. It would be over the 100degrF in Palm springs and a cool 86 or so in Idylwild.

Earlier this year we hiked up from the top of the tram to the top of the mountain. This is the little stone house right ontop for emergencies. It has 4 bunk beds, water and a first aid kit, should you get stranded and not make it down again.

Ontop of the San Josinto mountain ontop of the tram.

Idylwild has some cool campgrounds and what would they be without a hammock!

One of the weekends we decided to do some mountainbiking in Idylwild. They have this cool trail that is just incredible in the day and out of this world at night! We have night lights for the bikes and normally we do about 2 laps after dark.

waterski

We were lucky enough to spend the day with Christine and Jan at Lake Havasu on their boat AND have them teach us to waterski!

As you can see- some of us are naturals.

That keep going....

And going....

And some of us are not.....

And again others keep going.....

Big Bear

We know many of you are wondering.....what do they do in their spare time?
Well here's a little summary starting with our FAVOURITE place.
It has a special place in our hearts
BIG BEAR.

This is Big Bear last year Autum.

It can get a wee bit cold there....
But you will find Jacqeus in his T-shirt!

At least I got him to wear the gloves and pants!
A major achievement for those of you who Jacques - I'd be freezing and he's prouncing around in his swimming gear.

The first time we had chains on our Jeep. It was an experience.

Jacques doen nie sleg vir 'n outjie van die Vrystaat.

It was blimmen cold that day.

Our favourite pastime. Our favourite spot to stop and have something to eat.
The cozy little cabins in Big Bear are just enough to make the eveing perfect. Nice and warm. And for those of you of have experienced the Jacques-Wood combination, you can just imagine that fire! (Groenie die draak!)

Kittie

This was our fist child. We adopted Kittie on a farm we staid on 1996 in Stellenbosch.
She walked into our lives and staid with us until the end.
She died August 2005 a week before Natasa's Birthday. It was a hard blow. We loved her very much.

One of kitties favourite sleeping positions.
She was a little dragon!

Who says a cat can't flip a finger?
Leave it to Kittie - she did it all

Banggattie

This our Banggattie.
Don't even ask about the name!

She likes to look at herself in the mirror. And she likes her sleep just like mommy.

Wonder

Our Child Wonder. She's Banggatties sister.
She likes to read the Pharmacy times and have a drink.

Wonder at the dinner table, patiently awaiting her meal.

She's currently taking courses on currency trading as you can see.

Lions Head

This is where we left from.
What a nice shot. We're sitting on Lions Head looking out over Signal Hill and the bay.

Ons huisie

And this is where we ended up....
