Renovations

Not like we don't have anything else to keep us busy, but we decided out with the old and in with the new. Jacques ripped out the old carpet and with a little help from his wife installed bamboo flooring in the living room. What a job!

Here is the handy-man himself!
This was back-breaking, sticky, messy work. But Meyer's construction did a fabulous job!

Wonder of course, had to testdrive the mirror! Just measuring it up. "Yep" she says "That's exactly one catlength and has my paw of approval"
Inbetween all this, she also decided to crawl into the linnen cupboard and wedge herself between the towels.
This cat is priceless, for everything else, there is Mastercard.

Jacques decided to also repaint the living room. Let me just clarify : The ceiling is blimmen high!

We also decided to take out the old doors that took away so much of the view and put in as much glass as possible! It's amazing how much lighter the room is now with the brighter colors and the door!

The evenings at home

These are downright one of my favourite photos, not to mention moments. Sitting having a glass of port to this view.

It makes the hot summers all worth while.

Weekend in Julian

Last weekend Jan & Christine and Jacques & I decided to go for a drive to Julian. It was a beaut of a day to "drop the top" and go for a cruise.
Julian is about 2 hours from home.
A small little dorpie we got to know through a mountainbike race we do every year now. Julian is well know for its amazing apple pies. Needles to say two of those pies made it back to Palm Springs.

This is Jan - Christine - Natasa and Jacques in Julian. Beautiful scenery for hiking and mountainbiking!

Somehow we ended up doing something we've been eyeing out for a while.

This is our pilot that took us for a spin in the glider for about 40 minutes!

That would be Jacques and I ready for take off.

All smiles!
Yes - that was a tight fit.

Of course we had to talk them into it too!

What would life be without our friends that have to put up with us !

Yes it was cold. These are our buddies Clark and Sara.
We are in Julian for a mountainbike race.

This was taken in Big Bear earlier this year. Again Clark and Sara and Sidney - Clark's brother that came to visit! It was a bit of a climb. In winter we ski down those slopes!

And this would be Paula (Pieter's wife). Our South African buddies from Hartbeespoort Dam.
They live just around the corner from us and we have spend many an evening together polishing a bottle of wine or two.....

This is the hubby of Paula above (Pieter).
Grapgat!

A group photo: Neels, Jan, Jacques, Hennie and Pieter. Taken at yet another good ol' South African Braai.

That's Hennie and his wife Francois who were the first ones to meet us when we arrived in Palm Springs.
They were our guiding light when we arrived and helped us more than we could ever put into words.

Milovic's on the loose

We live for our visitors. We had Natasa's parents here last year November for 2 weeks and squeezed as much as possible into so little time.

This is taken in the Joshua Tree National Park. He's strong hej! And that would be Natasa's dad. Not just a pretty face!

A quick picknick at Lake Havasu. A cool little place where you would find London Bridge. It was taken apart and shipped over from London and reassembled at Lake Havasu.
A quick break at Lake Havasu.

Meyers in die VSA

In October 2004 we had Jacques parents visit. This was our first expedition to Hollywood. If you look carefully you can see the sign on the hill.

This is the Coronado Hotel in San Diego. One of our favourite places to go.

We were lucky enough to have some snow during their stay too! This was taken ontop of the tram in Palm Springs.

And in the back you see a Joshua Tree in the Joshua Tree national park.

Vegas

Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. Sometimes we just love to "get away" jump into the car and off to vegas we go....

This is taken ontop of the Stratosphere. The lights are AMAZING from this height.
